Researchers

Why Contribute?

As a researcher, you may have a number of reasons for contributing to DeSciWorld. One member wrote very succintly their ambitions for DeSci as a movement:

"A new digitally native way of organising science funding, publications and human resources: removing barriers to international and interdisciplinary collaborations and enhancing goal-oriented community initiatives." - Mr. Zondervan

Whatever the motivation, it is clear that the field of research requires some change. Innovation in the physical and pharmaceutical world has principally come through the scientific community. However, technological innovations do not always coalesce with the traditional research communities or institutions. It is necessary to continually update and reimagine how research is conducted globally, in order to maintain the most cutting-edge understanding of our physical and natural world.

Not only will contributing to DeSci progress the field, it will also empower would-be microbiologists, archaeologists, psychotherapists, physicians, nutritionists, and so on ad infinitum. Imagine a world in which any person with the right attitude and aptitude can meaningfully persue their research goals with little to no impediment from centralised and coercive funding institutions. Or a world that raises other researchers up, together, rather than pitting them in competition for funding or award programmes. DeSci as a movement will make this a reality.

How to Contribute?

Primarily, researchers can contribute through three avenues:

  1. Propose Research;

  2. Idea Share;

  3. Contribute to research of others;

Propose Research

A principle objective for DeSciWorld: to find funding for our Researchers. The peer-to-peer funding market infrastructure is not yet ready, but in the mean time, users can follow the steps on this form to propose a research objective:

Idea Share / Contribute to research of others

The Discord is the ideation centre for our researchers.

Discussions are relaxed and informal, yet should remain professional and follow the codes of conduct laid out in Rules.

Contributing to the research of others can create new avenues or solutions that they may not have originally considered. This kind of open and collaborative approach to research is quite new and we believe will have a very positive effect on the field.
